Hills Like White Elephants

"Hills Like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway is an interesting read. In the story there's the American man and a girl named Jig. It seems to me that they are in a relationship but I did not realize this until they were at the bar. They were at the bar having drinks but the conversation seemed random and out of place. With the news of her husbands passing it felt like a weight had been lifted from her. "She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life." As she realized that the new spring life was coming I believe she thought it meant a new life for her as well. Mrs. Mallard was able to feel free for a moment, but when she saw her husband walking into the house she gave up and died. It killed her ...
